Data
Understanding the scale of child sexual exploitation and abuse online, both nationally and internationally, is essential to inform effective action.
Gathering and sharing data including the extent of abuse, where it is stored, how it is shared and by whom, is an important step.
Technology companies, governments, criminal justice and civil society all have a role to play in identifying evidence of exploitation and abuse, and sharing it. All sectors also need to collaborate in identifying real and potential vulnerabilities so that the digital world can become a safe space for children. This data should be collected, published and reviewed regularly, based on meaningful metrics.
