Public discussion
Raising awareness of the danger to children of sexual exploitation and abuse online is important so that children and young people, parents, teachers, guardians and other caregivers can help identify risks and prevent abuse from taking place.
Tools for public discussion include education programmes, ethical and informed media reporting and giving voice to victims and survivors.
In addition, striking an informed balance between child safety online and privacy concerns requires informed public discussion. Governments and companies need to ensure that the risks are clearly presented and well understood.
